BIOGRAPHY

Details

I'm a Physiotherapist from Perth, Australia, and I'm currently living in Glasgow, Scotland.

This is my attempt to create something that I can look back on, while also keeping my friends and family back home and abroad up to date with my travels. It also gives me a chance to challenge myself through writing, share my (truly) amateur interest in photography, and cover some other miscellanous thoughts about myself and the world.

I guess this is more for me than it is for you. Who knows.

The title is reference to one of my favourite films, by Sofia Coppola, which has a pervasive theme of isolation, in spite of being surrounded by everything and everyone.. Very early in my move to the United Kingdom in late 2018, I caught up with a friend of mine, James, who had moved to England several years prior. He made sure to mention that loneliness and self-doubt will eventually claw in to your mind when you are this far from home, with his advice being along the lines of be aware and don't give up - it's worth it.

I didn't think too much of the comment at the time.

Sure enough, 1-2 months later, having settled in Glasgow and begun work as a Physiotherapist,  these thoughts did indeed hit me. Irrational, uncomfortable, and frankly lonely, these thoughts made me think of the film and prompted me to do some introspection - which led me to decide that I needed to get my thoughts down and perhaps just share the highs and lows of living abroad.

I plan to write about travel, the actual process of working overseas as a Physiotherapist, and myself, whilst also sharing anything else I feel is remotely interesting or reflective of me.

As I said, perhaps this is more for me than it is for you. Indulge me.
